No, unlike OEM systems, any certified Renishaw retrofitter can service your new purchase after our 1 year warranty expires.

What is warranty of the PH-10 probe system.

We supply new probe heads that are subject to inspection by Renishaw to insure they were not damaged (not covered). If the unit is at fault it will be replaced for 90 days.

Why do I have to arrange for Riggers and equipment?

Most shops have a Fork Truck big enough to unload the CMM. If a larger unit is needed, we have found it best if you provide local riggers to set the CMM.

How do I know what S/W to buy?

The Renishaw controller will accept several different S/W packages. Tell us your requirements and we can recommend a brand for you.

Should I be concerned about date of Manufacture of CMM?

Unlike most other used CMM dealers we completely replace all wiring and linear scales with new Renishaw CMM grade equipment. The motors and gear boxes are tested and rebuilt if necessary. Same for Air Bearings. So all that is saved is the granite structure from the original

Is a rebuilt GREEN CMM worth the same money as a new CMM

As mentioned in the "Why Rebuilt" section and confirmed by our own experience, CMMs made in the 80 and 90s are mechanically superior to those built today.

So why buy a new less mechanically accurate CMM instead of recycling an existing frame/stage?
Since I do not understand why CMM users would not want to save energy, and reduce their carbon foot print, let me list reasons potential customers have used to justify a new cmm purchase. The customer was usually coached by the salesmen of the new CMM, but used these reasons as their own.

There are no parts available for this obsolete CMM.

By using the generic "parts" this reasoning applies only to the CMM software, Electronics or the Probing system, not the CMM mechanical structure.
All obsolete parts are replaced on our rebuilt CMMs, including the Probe system.

Not as fast as a new CMM.

With the new electronics and the latest Renishaw XL laser system with machine dynamics software, we set the speed to match the rigidity of the CMM. The slow speed root cause was the slow OEM electronics and not the superior frame/stage. Yes there are some slow, poorly built cmm's out there, but we know them and do not rebuild these. Used CMM have been repairing and calibrating CMM's for 20+ years so we know the good ones.

There are hundreds of independent CMM service people in the US that have the skill sets to fix all brands of CMMs. Air bearing are made in the US and are a standard product. Ball Screws, drive belts and gear boxes are made by dozens of US companies for the conveyor and assembly business. Additionally we buy "donor" cmms that have been mishandled beyond reuse and save the parts.

Freight and rebuilding cost more than new.

Granite comes form Africa and Italy by boat. The used CMM is already in the US. no expensive over seas crating needs to be built. A tremendous energy saver.

Because we rebuild the CMM and only reuse the granite or cast iron frame, we offer the same warranty as a new cmm.
